Overview

A simple and elegant connector, our electroadhesive Surface Clutch serves as a universal clutching system. Consisting of two handles with attached electroadhesive webs, the Surface Clutch is capable of establishing a strong connection both between the handles themselves and between the handles and other materials. In particular, the Surface Clutch excels at handling materials which are flat, smooth, and conductive.

Key Features

  • Strong Connections: Maximum holding force of 100 N (approx. 25 lbs).
  • Mobile: At just 1.43 lbs (including handles), the Surface Clutch is extremely light and easy to carry around.
  • Battery-Powered: Consuming < 0.03 mW of power when activated, our Battery-Powered Voltage Drivers can support all-day use.
  • Versatile: The electroadhesive webs (only ~ 1 mm thick) can be disconnected from the handles and installed on a wide variety of tools or equipment.
  • Non-ferrous? No problem: Because the system uses electrostatics instead of magnetism, you can handle even non-ferrous substrates with ease.
  • No Moving Parts: Substituting flexible and lightweight films for bulky mechanical connections, operation is simple and inherently safe.
